Hello Marie Christine,
I'm probably not the best person to comment on macro work, I've never tried it and don't even own a macro lens! However, I think this is a great image, the exposure looks perfect, lovely light, detail is very good and you chose a very good POV, at eye level and allowing the wings from tip to tip to be in focus. A very nice piece of work. Kind regards, Adrian

Hello Nikos,
This is a very nice image, a nice play of light and dark, Chiaroscuro is a term I'm sure you're familiar with as an Art Teacher. This is a very artistic approach to floral photography. Technically very good with nice detail and lighting. There is a hotspot on the right petal, so I posted a workshop which addresses that and also brings a little more detail out of the shadows, you should be able to see the detail that has been recovered from the hot highlights. I hope you don't mind the workshop and like the result. Kind regards, Adrian

Hi Hilary,
This is an excellent image. Technically everything is on the mark, no improvements there. I always know when my cats are back after a day out because a female blackbird starts making a racket and hopping along the top of the fence :-)
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Joe,
Good to see your first Nuthatch. Considering the awkward light and photographing into direct sunlight it's a great job. You've retained enough detail in the shadowed areas and the hotspots aren't too bad (it looks as if you may have used the burn tool?). You can recover a little more detail using Photoshop shadow/highlight, set shadows to 15/15/2, highlights to 44/22/1 and midtone contrast to +13 (of course you can set it to whatever you want but those values with the smaller thresholds will recover some detail). I think in the field the only real thing you can do is to get the exposure as light as possible without too many burned highlights, and recover detail in the shadows in post-processing. Considering the lighting conditions it's a great effort.
Regards,
Adrian

Hello Karen, this made me laugh, the pose is perfect! Technically very good too, great colour, detail and exposure. I think maybe it's cropped a little close to his feet at the bottom, a little more space would be good. Kind regards, Adrian

Hi Joe,
I thought I'd stop by and see if you had posted anything from yesterday. Good to meet both you and Miles, it's always good to spend the day with like-minded people. I'm glad you got to photograph some of the local birds and glad you got your Nuthatch at last. Good image here, DOF is a little shallow with some fall-off in focus on the rear body and tail but great detail on the body and head. I like the workshop image too (a familiar perch :-)).
Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Doug,
This is excellent, nicely framed and composed. Great detail and exposure. Judging from the lens you used you got very close, nice work. Per a previous critique, I think the colors are fine, they look just right to me.
Regards,
Adrian

Hello Art,
A good image of this Beaver, some good detail but I think it's a little underexposed. Easily remedied in software though. I like the composition and good depth of field too. An interesting note, I too wouldn't want to think the poor fella is homeless.
Regards,
Adrian

Hello Jai,
A nice image, as you say the direct sunlight and shadow creates some problems, although there is still quite a bit of detail in the shadow. Nice and sharp with good DOF, a nice image.
Regards,
Adrian

Hello Reina,
A nice image, good soft colours and light, a nice diagonal compostion. Just a little more space to the left would be good so the left-most bird isn't clipped. Good exposure and detail, a nice image.
Regards,
Adrian
