Hello Anghel,
This is a great image, I like it a lot. Excellent light and colours and the background and foreground around the bird are beautiful. Great overall exposure, good detail in the plumage and a nice clear view of the eye. I think a little more space at the bottom would make this even better. Great work.

Hello Paul,
This image was on the front page as I passed today, had to stop and say what a great image I think it is. The light is quite striking, almost a glow rather than directional, doesn't seem to be any shadows anywhere. The image has immense depth due to the varying levels of focus throughout, beautiful colours and detail. Exposure is spot-on. The only negative I think is that the bottom right bird is clipped, with the whole of the bird in the image this is a perfect 10 for me. An excellent image!

Adrian

This is an excellent image, however I don't feel I can provide a critique while you do not critique others. You obviously have good photographic knowledge, it would be good for other members if you could share your experience in the way of critiques.

Hello Paul,
A nice image, extremely well exposed given the strong tonal contrasts. Good to include the wave breaking as it provides a focal point and leads the eye to the distant headlands. Good light providing the colour-banding in the sea with that great turquoise strip across the centre. Nice weather too, could almost be somewhere in the Mediterranean. I think the horizon may be slightly tipping to the right, could well be my eyes though.

Hi Joe,
Well what a surprise, and a nice one too :-) Thanks very much for the dedication, I'm glad to be able to offer advice and hope that some of it has been helpful. A great image, I like the light a lot in this, more natural looking than the image of the same bird that I posted. Perfect depth of field and great detail. Good point of view too with a clear view of the colours and markings. Excellent!
Cheers and thanks again,
Adrian

Hello Jim,
Your title is perfect for this image, I imagine it's a huge step for this youngster. What I really like is that you've captured something of the essence of this young swan, an innocence perhaps but clearly he's thinking about his next step in the big wide world. Technically everything is great, exposure is spot-on. Great image.

Hello Horia,

A place I know well. Very good panorama, good work on the stitch. I think the large post would be excellent, some detail is so small here it's hard to see (my eyesight isn't that great anyway :-)) Good depth of field and great colours given the overcast weather.

I think the only way to crop would be to remove the sky completely, I don't think there is any space to crop from the foreground. And of course with hindsight being sa wonderful thing 7 vertical shots instead of 5 would give you the required dimensions :-)

Great work, a lovely image.

Adrian

Hello Phillipe,
Beautiful wing detail here and good timing, an excellent pose. Great light, good exposure and a great warm background. I'd like to see some more detail/light around the eyes, perhaps with some post-processing work or a larger image.

Hello Karan,
Congratulations on making two years. This is an excellent image, beautiful colours and contrast, perfectly exposed. I'm really impressed by your fox images, you've produced some great work and I think you have a connection or special affection for these Foxes, it shows in your work.

Hello Tom,

Well spotted during daylight hours. A good image, good detail although a little dark. I suspect that the bright sky to the left of the image has caused your camera's metering system to expose a little darker. I think for this image a portrait format would be better. The two Racoons one above the other, the elongated spot they're in all fit a portrait format. That would also eliminate the bright sky to the left. Also as they are looking down I would probably leave more room at the bottom of the frame than the top, simply because it's more pleasing to the human eye/mind if the subject has more space 'to look into' so to speak.

I read Steve's critique and I'm not sure he meant to say that distractions are officially bad :-) While people can and will offer different advice, you are the photographer and if you want to include a leafy foreground then go for it.

A belated welcome to Treknature.

Regards,
Adrian

Hello Agnieszka,
A fine looking Lion and a good portrait, nice detail and colours. Perhaps a little more space on the right side of the frame would be good, his nose looks too close to the edge of the frame. A nice image.

Hello Omer,
Quite a result for a handheld capture with a 500/4 from a sea bicycle! Nice composition with the bird nicely placed in the frame. Great colour/light/exposure, however I think it would benefit from rotating clockwise just to make the sea level. Very nice capture!

Hi Doug,
It seems you've captured something of a local rivalry going on, wonder what the fight is about. It's great that you caught all 3 in a vertical frame, individually each would make a good image but all three together is excellent. Good detail and good depth of field, lovely colours in the BG and well defocused which really makes the colour contrast of the birds stand out. A very good image, great work.

Nice warm light in this image and excellent depth of field, not always easy with a dSLR. Nice sharp details, just a little over-exposed with some detail lost in the highlights but noting too serious. A nice image.

Hello Angela,
I lived in Texas for two years and these birds were everywhere, and what a noise they make. A nice image, beautiful light and colour, good composition although you clipped the tail, always better to keep it in shot for this kind of image. Detail is a little soft, did you sharpen before posting? Usually 2-300% at a pixel radius of 0.2-0.3 is good, just to compensate for the low-pass filter in the camera.

Adrian

I would imagine this is quite a dangerous situation for a Wildebeest to be alone in the bush. Excellent image, well composed and great depth of field, about perfect I think. I like the dusty background, it really adds some atmosphere to this image.

Hello Peter,
A nice image of this youngster catching a ride on Mother's back. Beautiful colours and very well framed/composed with the reflection included. Do you use Active D-Lighting on your D300? I turned it on to see how it worked when I bought my D300 and I haven't turned it off yet. It would help with awkward lighting situations such as this.

Adrian
