Hi Catherine

I have to totally agree with you here - lizards are great company for me too and indeed, after they get used to your presence there, they will pose like professional models :)
Excellent close-up here, with impeccable sharpness and great focus selected on the subject, while letting the BG to become nicely blurred.
I see that your specimen here is a bit darker than what i used to find here, but it's probably because it's more to the north and thus needs to capitalize on the sun's heat better.
Anyway, lovely work in all aspects.

Hi Ulla

Another very nice shot from you, but i think i feel a little sadness in its title...
Indeed for macro shooters, the first signs of autumn to indicate the downhill for their activity, but i'm sure you'll still benefit from a few more months of "work" and have built up a nice archive by now, as well :)
That aside, i really like the whole setting here - the beautiful admiral, resting on this vibrant Buddleia flower and having that nice green uniform BG behind.
Lovely capture indeed.

Buna Marius

Exceptional macro ai aici!
Admir in special claritatea detaliilor si exactitatea focusului aici - care pastreaza bine atat picioarele cat si corpul paianjenului foarte bine detalialte.
Lumina e de-asemenea foarte buna iar funalul e perfect pentru a scoate intreg subiectul in evidenta.
Foarte foarte bine lucrat!

Bravo si merci de postare

Buna Oana

Foarte buna imagine.

Hi Ram

An absolutely gorgeous macro here from you, depicting this gorgeous Common Lime Butterfly in a lovely manner.
I actually like this shot because of 3 aspects:
- the excellent side POV that allows the entire head, body and wings to be in such good focus
- the spot-on exposure that retains great details from the shadows and highlights equally
- and the lovely contrast between the subject and the uniform BG.
Thus, a truly remarkable shot!

Hi Vanni

What an interesting capture!
I can only imagine how difficult it is to follow such a speedy bird diving down even with your own eyes, much more with a long telephoto lens like this. Thus, your result is amazing, even if the shot itself isn't impeccably sharp.
Excellent work, in my humble opinion.

Hi Bayram

I see i've missed some more really cool posts from you, but now that i've had a good look over them, i chose this superb portrait to congratulate you for all :)
I think i like this one most of all, showing this interesting Anatololacerta oertzeni budaki for the first time here on TN and in such a beautiful way! I just love the overall sharpness and the pose from the lizard, and that perfect BG behind it just completes the whole picture so well.
Wonderful work, my friend!

Hi Sergio

A lovely shot of this Western Willow Spreadwing.
I really like the colors you manged here as well as the gorgeous BG you have behind the damselfly, despite the rather small apperture you used.
The overall exposure is also great and i think that the only minor nit would be the sharpness on the subject's head - which could maybe use some more accuracy.
Even so, this is a lovely post.

Hi Krzysztof

Glad to hear you've arrived ok and that you had a nice holiday and trip to my country, too. I hope you're leg is all healed by now and that you'll be safe next time :)
This is a great capture from you and a very well taken macro of this beautiful butterfly. I really like the shallow DOF here and the way it isolates the subject from the BG - there's a clear definition of the contour of the wings which is a great aspect.
Very good sharpness and exposure, too.

Cheers, TFS and, again, thanks for the great time

Hi Michal and (i guess) welcome home :)

Glad to hear you've arrived ok and that you had a nice holiday and trip to my country. I'm only sorry i didn't have more time and less knowledge to show you around that area.
Also, thank you so much for this nice dedication and for your kind words. I also love the picture from the WS which actually came our really well :))
Last but not least, this is a great capture from Bucovina. I really find it interesting that this rather small spider has such a great appetite and strength to overpower a rather strong and violent dragonfly such as the ruddy darter. Great timing and details here on that!

Cheers, TFS and, again, thanks for the great time

Hey mate,

Nice to see another superb shot from you and from Kimmeridge...and as always, it brings back great memories :)
You really caught a wonderful light and setting here and definitely made the most of it. Personally ,i just love the contrast of temperatures between the cold blue waters near the rocks and the golden reflection from them. I think i would have snapped a close-up of that, too had i been there as well :)
That aside, i also like the diagonal line described by the shore and the nice silhouette of the farther cliff, all leading the view towards the beautiful sunset.
Also personally, i love the fact that you have such a good focal point where those 4 sticks are in the water (its placement in the frame is terrific), but i'm not sure they're the best focal point, though...i just have mixed feeling about them, that's all...hoe you don't mind my saying :)
But anyway, together with the strong colors and the great shutter speed selection, i think you have a lovely seascape and i congratulate you for it.

PS: i don't want to be too much of a pessimist, but it looks as if another year goes by without us meeting up again...i know we both had and have our own plans and that there a lot of things just appearing out of the blue, but i just wanted to say that i promise i will do all in my power to try and get to England again soon :)
PS2: i wish you a fantastic trip in Ireland - with great weather and all - and i can't wait to see what you'll be coming home with ;)

Hi Ivan

Oh yes...that happened to me, too...i know the feeling :(
But indeed you were lucky to have a camera that has a good noise control and so your images are not at all completely ruined. In fact, at this resolution here, there's very little evidence to point out a high ISO.
That aside, this is a gorgeous shot of this very beautiful species. I also like the pose you've managed to catch it in and the lovely, uniform BG that sets it out well.
Trithemis annulata is indeed a species that, if caught in the right light (as here) will grab everyone's attention through its vibrant colors.
Wonderful work my friend!

Hi Alexei

Nice to see you here again old friend! I hope you all doing very well.
This does indeed remind me of Howard's photos and has the same impeccable quality to it.
Your timing here was fantastic and gave you a perfect angle for both the wings and the butterfly's face and long toungue - getting ready to taste some juicy nectar.
Very well controlled in terms of depth and overall exposure, too, this photo is indeed a true masterpiece of yours. My hat is definitely off to you!
