well composed, well approached capture of this cute and very agile butterfly of the mountains.

Regarding the identification: instead of the similar looking but more brightly colored common and wide spread Aglais urticae, I might suggest to consider the Himalayan species "Aglais caschmirensis (Kollar, 1848)".

Liebe Anne,
beeindruckend detailreiches Foto des recht scheuen Grossen Waldportiers, im fortgeschrittenen Sommer bereits ein wenig abgeflogen. Prima Dokumentation dieses recht selten gewordenen Falters trockenwarmer grasiger Wälder. Auf dem Eichkogel im Süden von Wien, den wir vor wenigen Jahren im Sommer gemeinsam aufsuchten, hat er sich in diesen Tagen wieder blicken lassen. Er fliegt dort gemeinsam mit dem Weißen Waldportier B. circe. Oft verjagen die Falter beider Arten einander in schnellem Flug gegenseitig von ihren Revieren am Waldrand. Ein spannender Anblick.
