The scene of two different birds on the same dried up branch has a charm of its own, Sujoy.
However, my nit is that perhaps you fell to the temptation of over-sharpening it.
Other than that, it is a wonderful capture from Botswana.

You have lucky here
2 birds on 1 picture and good sharp

Splendid composition, Sujoy!
Excellent sharpness and great depth; beautiful lightness and perfect pose of the birds; nice contrast with a green background. Well done!
Thanks for sharing

Ciao Sujoy, great capture of strange couple, splendid light, wonderful natural colors, fine details and excellent sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Sujoy,
This is a scene with potential: two birds in a frame, in beautiful pose each. Colors are good. But the list of negative aspects starts with the composition, which is quite centered and static, a vertical frame might be a better choice in this case. Which really vexes the viewers eyes, is the inappropriate post-procession work. The birds, the branches, even the watermark is drastically oversharpened: there are bright halos even around the letters! In Photoshop CS2, you can choose magnetic lasso tool to draw around the territory you want to sharpen, and do the necessary correction after it. I also advice you to work with tools like "smart sharpen" in cases like this. But sharpening a whole pic with one click is imho an error. For removing the background noise, which is visible on your pic also, use Neat Image free demo, a great plug-in which is compatible with CS2. I hope these infos are helpful to you.
Best regards, László

Hello Sujoy,
Splendid photo composition with these birds, very nice colors and details, TFS!

what a beauty. Black and white = great title for this shot. A heron and a ??? Kingfisher may be??? I love it. Would like to see the image a little bit cropped so the branch on the right is gone. But hey it's a lovely shot Sujoy, great natural history, well done.

Good scene to capture here. My opinion is that this has been over sharpened. A tempatation to us all, however it spoild the image. The composition just ever so slightly cuts off the toe of the Egret, which should be avoided if at all possible and best to leave enough space on either side of the subject when composing with the camera as that will leave you more options later on Photoshop etc. Keep the good pics coming - we all learnt here on TN to improve and I would like to see you post some more here refining your skills.

Bonjour Sujoy,
C'est bien vu et surtout relativement bien restitué.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Great shot sujoy!
Nice colors & good composition taken well from the moving boat.
I really enjoy the pic. Well done & TFS.

Hi Sujoy.
You managed to catch an amazing scene. Both bird are very nice and you have reproduced all their features perfectly. Tree branch patter also decorate the scene excellently and bokeh is great too. My compliments and TFS.
