[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ambling through the Kalahari in our Landrover one day, our guide suddenly stopped the vehicle, pulled out his binoculars and started looking at the horizon. We dutifully did likewise, seeing nothing. Suddenly came the call from out front: "Hold on folks, wild dogs!"

The Landrover screamed into action and we bounced our way along what passed for a road to get a closer view of this extremely endangered animal. It is estimated that there are only 750 in all of Botswana, and as few as 3000 in the whole world - and we saw two of them!

The wild dog population is endangered because of the (incorrect) belief that it is responsible for the killing of much livestock.

Wild dogs are social animals and hunt in groups. These two were after an impala, but they didn't have any luck. I will post another photo later with more information on what we saw in the hunt. (Sorry to be a tease :)

The image has been cropped and saturation increased a little bit. I don't like that his face is in shadow, but I'm not sure how I could have avoided this. We were too far for flash. This was definitely our most rare sighting during our trip, and credit must go to our CC Africa guide who spotted them when they were tiny flecks on the horizon.

Very good pic!
A bit OOF but ok

Not enough sharp but still good one, i like this animal :)

Ian, these are lovley creatures. The texture of the dog in the photo almost looks watercoloured. I like it. I would have liked to see more eye detail, but these dogs' eyes are very difficult to get. Well done.

These guys are some of my favorites and you captured it well. The larger crop is very effective as well. Very well done.

Thanks for posting
