Unknown flower

ecology and location

I have encountered this flower in a forest area at the roadside, nearby Kisangani. DRC is Its Localisation, in orientale province of the country.

Characteristic

Actinomorphic flowers. Whorl of green bracts forming an epicalyx, very apparent. Green small discrete sepal. White and red petals. We can see 5 attached petals , which are identical. It is a flower from type 5 (pentamerous flower)

When young the flower is a white bowl prolongated by a very long filament. At maturity, the bowl open and the long filament separate in 5 filaments at the apex of the petals.

The leaves are elliptic, entire, strong green with arcuate venation. They are simple and alernate. The leaves are waxy-coating.

The picture

The picture was taken early morning under when the sunshine light was not yet intense. With a sensitivity equivalent to ISO-125 and an aperture of f/4, the speed was 1/100, with a focal length of 6 millimetres.

Post treatment

Re cropping and resizing ; improvement of the gamma and the sharpness with Olympus studio.

Bonsoir Philippe,
Anne
