Unkown scarlet flower

ecology and location

I have encountered this flower in a forest area at the roadside, nearby Kisangani. DRC is Its Localisation, in orientale province of the country.

Characteristic

Zygomorphic flowers. Five Green small discrete sepal. Five scarlet petals. We can see five attached petals , which are identical. It is a flower from type five (pentamerous flower). Surprisingly, only four stamens. Disposition of the stamens showing the bilateral symetry of the flower. One pistil divided in two parts at its apex. Inferior ovary.

The leaves are elliptic, entire, strong green with arcuate venation. They are simple and opposite. The leaves are waxy-coating.

Inflorescence is a compound umbel.

The picture

The picture was taken early morning under when the sunshine light was not yet intense. With a sensitivity equivalent to ISO-80 and an aperture of f/3.2, the speed was 1/60, with a focal length of 6 millimetres.

Post treatment

Re cropping and resizing ; improvement of the gamma and the sharpness with Olympus studio.
