What an amazing place and what an amazing bird... I call this extreme birding. We drove 300 kilometers with my girlfriend in the arid desert without any settlements or gas stations...

Once we were in Abu Simbel, i noticed that is not really easy to find birds there. Somehow my insticts led me to some different locations which were not mentioned in the internet or any books. There i found some local fisherman and offered them some money if they took us at Nasser lake. They accepted, and this is one of the many fantastic birds we got. It was truely one of my best birding memories in my life. Believe it was more challenging not because of only finding the birds but travelling in this one of the most arid place in the world.(water is a result of dam, background are NOT the pyramids as many think :)

Yellow-billed Stork is a rare bird in Western Palearctic but they follow river Nile and here they are regularly seen at Sudanese border.

Abu Simbel is located just some hundred meters away from Sudan ;)

I love Egypt! :D

great composition, TFS Ori

Very similar in appearance to the Painted Stork found in India..The lone stark featured here in the water body with the mountains for BG is the opposite of large Painted Stork colonies found in India. Nicely done.
