Wadi Matra, Sinai (2)
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Nature in Egypt:|
I present the Wadi Matra from a high point. In an earlier post I was ruminating about the geology of this place (thanks for your remarks !). The road from Nuweiba to Saint Catherine in Sinai enters this vast Wadi for a time. To the right you see a dark basaltic (volcanic) rock shoulder but on the horizon sandstone dominates. The Sinai was part of the Northern boundary of the Gondwana continent and winds brought the sand to the sea, it deposited on the continental socle until the collision with the continent of Laurasia.
lifted it all up.
Of course the settlement far right is not part of Nature, it's man-made. It's difficult today to have scenic views of nature without traces of man's presence. But I don't apologize to you and TN, the settlement adds a scale.
