[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The theme of the week on "Traveling Birders" group is woodpeckers.

Here is a female Abyssinian Woodpecker (Dendropicos abyssinicus) on the way to Sanetti plateau, Bale mountains. It is also called Golden-backed Woodpecker "queen". One of the top 50 birds of Ethiopia and endemic to Eritrea and Eth. It is not a very easy species so this kindness of her was amazing for me, that she had stayed on a wooden fence for five minutes. A hand sized woody, very small, only 16 cm The king has a bright red crown. :)

Hi Emin. Nicely framed colourful bird. The gold and the red go well together. A very beautiful Queen. Your focus includes everything and the DOF leaves for a nice background. A very glamorous shot. TFS Trevor
