Spot-breasted Lapwing (Vanellus melanocephalus)

It is an endemic to Ethiopian Highlands. It lives in damp grassland, moorland with giant lobelia, giant heath, Alchemilla and tussock grass; also marshes and near streams; often on pastures and near cattle. Generally found between 1800 and 4100 m.

Sedentary, although some local movements probable: north of Gonder numbers increase during rainy season. Outside breeding season, often occurs in parties of 30–40 birds.

Actually we saw here, more then 300 birds all together in the very early morning :-)

Beautiful birds, Emin. They look magnificent on the water's edge.

Hello Emin,
Have missed these remarkable birds when I was there.
Nice photo in good sharpness and beautiful colours, although some parts look over saturated, like the blue and black colours. Beautiful reflections too.
Regards,
Peter

Beautiful birds; I did not know; beautifully lit by the early morning sun. The timing of that light is guessed by the long shadows of the lapwing; and though it could be the twilight; There is something in the glow that speaks of hope for a day ahead; reflected in the glow of many little black eyes ... :)

Congratulations, my friend, is a beautiful work and exudes joie de vivre.

A big hug.
