Just back from a holiday in The Gambia. This is an amazing country for birders. I saw more than 200 species in 7 days time!!
The little bee-eater is easily identified by its combination of small size, yellow throat, black collar, buff-yellow belly and square ended dark-tipped tail. In flight shows conspicious russet underwings. It lives in forest edges in thornveld and open clearings in coastal forest. A very common bird in The Gambia!

Hello Zeno,
I have recently shot and posted the pictures of the Bee Eater found in north India.
Your Bee Eater from Gambia has a set of different colours on the throat. Even the overall plumage of your species is more colourful.
The image is very sharp and well composed. I like the diagonal placement of the subject against a blurred BG.
TFS and regards.

Hello Zeno,
Wow, Gambia caught my eye and I'll certainly follow your postings carefully now! We went there asome years back and it was fantastic. We'd like to go back but the flight from here is 9 hours via Tenerife which is a real bore!
Anyway, this is a good start with this lovely little Bee-eater very nicely caught. Excellent sharpness and colours and I love its pose. Well composed too.
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hello Zeno,
Mooie plaat.

200 soorten in 7 dagen! Deze eerste foto getuigt daar van. Wat een topper!
Hier mankeert werkelijk niets aan. Grote klasse.

Ha Zeno,

Prachtig shot
POV, DOF, scherpte, details en kleuren zijn fantastisch

This is a fantastic capture. The clarity is superb, the BG perfect, and the composition is spot-on. One of the best photos of a bee-eater I have seen.

Sharp image straight into the eye, exposure a little bit low.
Best regards,

Hi Zeno,

What a nice place to be to photograph birds. Gorgeous image of the bee-eater, I love the composition and your square frame suits this picture very well. Excellent details in the plumage, amazing vivid colours and what a superb eye. Beautiful bakground also!

Hello Zeno,

I really like this splendid picture of this bee-eater!!! Colors of the bird and bg colors and awesome, to say the least!!! I like also the aperture choice you made (f/6.3) letting us see so clearly the depth of field (look at the branch)!!! Details, pov, natural colors, etc cannot be better!!!

Very impressive image!
