Highlight in the shadow
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This small highlight (length about 5 to 6 cm), I found in the shadow of trees resting on a fern leaf on Masoala Peninsula on the east side of Madagascar. More than 150 different frogs occur on Madagascar and most are to be found only here (with the exception of 2 species). Probably further new species can be discovered here, before - and this is a large problem in Madagascar - the remaining forest patches have been cleared. Erosion can be observed all over the island leaving large areas of non-fertile red-brown soil.|
I did not find out the name of this species. Perhaps, someone can help.
> An extension ring was used in connection with the lens.
> Unfavourable, bad light conditions.
> no tripod, no monopod, no flash.

NOTE ADDED on 05.12.2006
After some months non-identified, the species has a name now:
-- Heterixalus punctatus
-- Spotted reed frog
Thank you Hans 'Lycaon' for identification and for the remark that the species is rather rare in Madagascar,
