[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
By the crater lake at Grand Bassin, now a Hindu sacred site. These lovely birds, Streptopelia chinensis, were introduced to Mauritius from Bengal in 1781. The are doing very well here, but they are less often seen as clearly as this. Doubtless this one has learnt to feast on bananas and other offerings made by the lakeside.

It was grey and overcast when this snap was taken.

Hello Geoffrey,
A gorgeous bird which you have photographed in beautiful soft lighting. The markings in it's plumage is quite lovely and you made wonderful eye contact. Would liked to have seen just a tad more space in front of the bird, but still a great shot.

Hello Geoffrey,
Thanks for the NOTE. I'm a Hindu and I'm from Bengal in India (smile). This species is common in our yard too. Well captured.
Thanks and regards,
