(=Carlina involucrata Poiret var. brachylepis Batt. Fl. Algérie, Dicot.: 485. 1889)

Carlina (carline thistle) is a genus of about 30 species of thistles in the family Asteraceae, native to Europe, north Africa and Asia. The highest species diversity in the Mediterranean region, and only one species (C. biebersteinii) as far east as China. Source
