With a length of 3540 Km, the Zambezi is the 4th largest river system of Africa and the largest flowing into the Indian Ocean from Africa. The river originates in Zambia from where it flows into Angola, then along the borders of Namibia and Botswana into Zambia again from where it crosses Zimbabwe into Mozambique and drains into the Indian Ocean. Two large dams, Lake Kariba in Zimbabawe and Cahora Bassa in Mozambique, where hydroelectric power is generated, have a regulating effect on the severe flooding to which the Zambezi River Valley is subjected. However, this has also had disturbing effects on the environment.

Hi Neels,

The way you took the photo is giving me the possibility to have a wide view of this area of the Zambezi river. The aerail point of view is showing the details and colors of this area. Th afternoon light is giving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.
