[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
He is a pretty special picture. Usually, in public parks in Africa, we cannot move at night. At Etosha, one of campgrounds is established adjacent to a permanent water point. The place is a little lighted in an indirect way so that we can see the animals from the camp.
I saw a hundred animals succeed in this water, each species having its preferred time to drink. What impressed me the most during the observation time is the silence in which every animals move.
The rangers told me that lions never came before 1 am, and I wasn't able to stay long enough because of the freezing temperature: despite sweaters and sleeping bag, I had to abandon and go back to the tent!
I hope this snapshot allows to realize (at least a little) the very special atmosphere of the moment
Technical note : I had no tripod on this safari, I put my camera on a little wall, with a beanbag. I had of course a lot of failed pictures due to the long exposure time |

Hi Philippe,
A splendid shot of this marvelous animal, even with the light you have managed extremely well show good detail.
Thanks for sharing, regards Bill.
Hi Philippe,
a good shot that shows well the very special atmosphere of this camp in Etosha. I have been there in 2010 and just get the feeling looking at your elephant.

Pierre
