[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the Map of Etosha (with illustrated animal and bird identification) its name is African red-eyed bulbul.
In German...Maskenbülbül.

However...from wikipedia

The Red-eyed Bulbul (Pycnonotus brunneus) is a species of songbird in the Pycnonotidae family. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

The Red-eyed bulbul is a bulbul specie found in the above countries and not in Africa.
I think it should be called the Black-fronted Bulbul.
I verified this by the above wikipedia and the Howard & Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World 3e Edition 2003. Revised and corrected per Coorigenda 31,2006.
African red-eyed bulbul isn't listed. Red-eyed bulbul is but that's a different specie.

From wikipedia
The Black-fronted Bulbul (Pycnonotus nigricans) is a species of songbird in the Pycnonotidae family. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats are dry savanna and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.

Hi Annick. Firstly i like the BG colours very much in this one with the light blue colour on the mainly green. With the light just catching the back of the Bulbul. A good pose with the bird loking forward . With good detail and colours. well done tFS. Good notes too,

Hello Annick
Perfect capture with sharp details and beautiful colors. good BG too.

hi Annick,

Superb shot.Really pleasant colour and light. The bird stand out well against soft green BG espacially the red eye..TFS and have a nice weekend.

Hi Annick
Simple and beautiful. Another great bird and fantastic image. Perfect background, sharpness everything

Hello Annick
You have used the awesome 400mm to great effect here by running the shallow plane of focus directly over the subject thus knocking the bg to a brilliant haze of greens.
All the best

Hi Annick,

Technically well handled with a good background and interesting pose seeming to lean forward.
With regards the name the Sasol Birds of Southern Africa 3 rd edition (2002) by Ian Sinclair and others lists the African Red eyed Bulbul (Pycnonotus nigricans) Robert's listing No 567. With a habitat area covering Namibia, Northern and Central Cape and Botswana. I do not know if the name and classifiation was changed sometime.

Very nice capture.POV,BG,colors and details are perfect.Very well done!
Thanks for posting.

hi Annick ,
superb composition , I like it very much !
perfect focus and fine details , good light and nice DOF ,
great POV ,
very well done !

Just to confirm the scientific binomen. This is P. nigricans. Once lumped with the Common Bulbul (P. barbatus). The Asian species (brunneus) causes a bit of confusion because of the overlapping use of the nomenclature (i.e., the English Common Name).

Hallo Annick,
Perfecte compositie.

hi annick!
A very fine bird!

good work!
