Unromantically named after the distance from Sesriem Canyon, Dune 45 is the most accessible dune to climb in this vast sea of red sand that covers over 32,000 square kilometers of western Namibia. This enormous expanse of dunes stretches from the southern Khoichab River to the northern Kuiseb River.
It is thought that the sand originated in the Kalahari Desert up to five million years ago and was swept down to Sossusvlei by the Orange River. Your struggle to the top is worth every step, views of the surrounding desert are spectacular. You may be lucky enough to see Oryx or Ostriches roaming across the sand below.

Beautiful scene. The colors and compostion are wonderful.

A nice artistic shot Aivar
The blue sky is amazing against the red sand in the background. The tree in the foreground has lots of character with its dark rough bark and silver leaves.
Nicely framed and good note.

Perfect landscape of Namib Desert Aivar.

I like it a lot: composition, DOF, POV, sharpness, focus, color, lighting, background, framing,

I like it: notes (but lack the aperture value)

I don't like it: nothing.

Great shot, great presentation.
Thanks and greetings... Ricardo

I've seen dune 25 a number of times on TN and TE, but its always beautiful.

Well composed and exposed. Very nice.

Hi Aivar,
Great 'dune'scape depicted here.
Very good compo and exposure.
Don't see aany signs of vignetting.
Aren't there any serious reptile bites risks and what about sand in your equipment?
Depth is very well done too here...

Hi Aivar,
Most has already been said by this stunning photo. The composition is just perfect, with the tree in the correct position. The colors are so stunning, especially the red dune and contrasting against the perfect blue sky.
Great use of the setting sun. It gave the entire photo nice soft light.

Bellissima fotografia! Trasmette molto bene un senso di aridità e solitudine... in effetti il posto è quasi un deserto. :-)
Mi piace molto l'accostamento fra l'azzurro del cielo e l'ocra della sabbia.

Hello Aivar,
An excellent landscape! Very effective composition with that lonely tree. The three different plans on the photo work very good and make it very interesting and eye catching. And the colours are very nice.
Great job!!! TFS!!!
