I heard a strange sound in the bushes just above the ground. And suddenly I saw this bird for the first time in my life. And it’s NEW ON TN. It was more blue than in the description.

The Grey-backed Camaroptera, Camaroptera brachyura, is a small warbler. This bird is a resident breeder in Africa south of the Sahara Desert.

This skulking passerine is typically found low in dense cover. The Grey-backed Camaroptera binds large leaves together low in a bush and builds a grass nest within the leaves. The normal clutch is two or three eggs.

These 11.5 cm long warblers have grey upperparts and a grey short cocked tail. The wings are olive and the underparts whitish grey. The sexes are similar, but juveniles are paler yellow on the breast.

Like most warblers, Grey-backed Camaroptera is insectivorous. The call is a whining sheee......sheee, and the song is a crisp twik twik twik twik twik .

Vandaar mijn besluit.
Blijkt wel dat ik gelijk krig.
3 reacties waarvan 1 zonder punten.
Als ik nu weer TN verlaat is het echt voorgoed.
De mensen die me wilden houden zijn nu niet thuis.

groet Gert

interesting litle bird indeed Peter! And if your findings are correct that this is the first post for the species in TN, then this makes it even more special ! Valuable notes too!

George Veltchev

Good Morning Peter, congrats on this new species for TN!
Good sharp with good color saturation, and the shallow DOF has nicely blurred the background. I like the pose of the bird and well positioned in the frame! nice work.
TFS and have a nice day!

Hello Peter,
This is really a lovely bird with these fine tints of the plumage. Happy you to have seen it. Interesting to read that it is a species which is more on the lower levels in the vegetation, where you have seen it too.
Very natural picture
Thanks and kind regards
Anne
