Common resident. The degree of red scaling on the facial region is variable and less profuse in females and immatures. Is attracted to fruit in suburban gardens.

The impact is much better in this composition. Like it a lot.
Very well done and thanks for posting.
The backlight adds a nice touch and it's very difficult to expose such a dark bird in backlit conditions. I think you managed well. I might have considered a tighter crop and getting rid of some space on the right. One should have space but not too much. Are you familiar with the rule of thirds?
Very nice backlit picture Paul. The focus on the back is good considering the dark lighting. I like the bacground as well. My apologies but I agree with Gerhard about the composition. A very nice picture nonetheless.
