[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
crested barbet - Trachyphonus vaillantii.
Common resident. The degree of red scaling on the facial region is variable and less profuse in females and immatures. Is attracted to fruit in suburban gardens.

caught this cute at witpoorjie botanical garden. unfortunately it was too dark for a shot since the location was between two hills and it was late evening. This bird was begging to be photographed hopping around me, so i used a high ISO (800) and considerably slow shutter speed. 'Manyee' has done a great workshop which shows the bird more clearly.

What an interesting-looking bird, Paul. You caught it in a great POV. Good composition as well. Unfortunately it is very dark and hard to see the details and the colors. I made a workshop, if you don't mind, to brighten it up a bit. TFS. : )

Hello Paul

New bird to me and he/she is lovely. Such and array of plumage colours. Unfortunately the image is dark to get a full appreciation of this lovely fella. Have uploaded a workshop where I have lightened and sharpened the image. Thanks for the introduction! Oops, didn't see that Manyee had already done a workshop. Oh, well now you have two!
