Some may remember him for TE, long ago. Nice to have been able to run him through CS and NI, and adding a frame. This cat gave us SO much pleasure. He sneaked up to the camp and salvaged a white plastic bag from the garbage tin, then proceeded to a low tree where he played with his “pray”, even falling out of the tree behind this plastic bag a couple of times. At the end, there is only so much in an empty bag, and he deemed it appropriate to clean-up his mug in typical feline manner. He was about 20 m from our vehicle, and unperturbed by our presence and the clicking of the cameras. This is a young male leopard, approximately 18 months old. The venue is Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, around May 2002
Shooting details - My trusty old Nikon F90X, SB28 flash, Sigma 50-500 lens, all long sold and the sturdy shoulder of my wife - still in demand and not for sale - as a camera support. Slide film was Sensia 100, I think, and scanned on flatbed scanner.
I have written already so much about this Prince amongst felines, but it is always a captivating sight to see them in their natural habitat. The USM is maybe a bit much for may taste but I tried to get it to the level of some of previous Ws’s on some of my postings.

Hier zie ik opnieuw de grote Callie met dit beeld van dit schitterend dier, en zeker de moment opname hoe de tong mee in beeld komt, en opnieuw een zeer schitterende nota aanwezig.

Great shot Callie, a really nice story to go with it too.
A beautiful beast, well caught.

Another teaser? For us to go along. :) Such a nice moment you got here. Nice colors, details and POV. You know how to "tag and bag" these cats, Callie.

Well, well, well, How bout' that. Now, this is a shot. The tones are great, Callie. Just a couple of days ago, I watched a documentary on this kitty from Shrilanka.
Two thumbs up my friend, and then some.

Great colours and what a pose! I love these big cats - we only get to watch them on TV here. Great capture Callie.

Good to see this beautiful cat is back, Callie. Cats (great and small) have for many people a relaxing power. They radiate a kind of soothing effect. I guess you could have stayed there for hours observing him. Beautiful lively and -yes- cute shot, even if the eyes show his usual cruelty and determination.

Callie, Great in the wild moment captured. Like the title..this young leopard is trusting to have let you get this close..seems on this day a good match for your "trusty" Nikon F90X! Well done!!

I wish I could take shots of big cats in natural envirorment like you Callie. Great capture! Moment and cat are beautiful. Great story, too.

Great composition but a bit dark and focus a little soft. Great BG and colours.

Well, he's definitely a good deal prettier than the company you've been keeping lately ;-))
Great capture of this chap licking his fingers in order to browse through the menu - I hope you're not on it ;-))
No nits.

Wow Callie... I thought you were a birder!!!
Great capture!!!

Great frame and very good timing, you caught it right in time, there is a little bit lack of sharpness (I think) or a little bit too much processing.

Ag nee Callie, Ek probeer nou net myself oortuig dat luipers eintlik nie mooi is nie en dat en nie Sabi toe hoef te gaan nie en dan pos jy hierdie pragstuk. Hierdie skoot is 'n wenner en ek sal my voortande gee vir so 'n skoot.

Uitstekende werk
