Just a head on shot of normal Housefly on a fern leaf. I cropped, rotated and resized for the site. I liked how the fern leaf looked in the crop.

Thanx for the view and comment

Muscidae (Housefly family)

This family contains a number of species of medical and veterinary importance, including the Housefly Musca domestica, and the Stablefly Stomoxys calcitrans (looks like a housefly but has a hard, sharp proboscis for penetrating vertebrates and sucking their blood).

There are about 44 genera and 364 species in southern Africa

with supern details.
the fly is really good,

but the fern is not bad either
with the funny brown dots.
very well seen & done, thor.

Hello Jannie
You have captured this macro with a very interesting POV and an excellent composition. Which is the real subject though as it seems you've hit two flies with one clout? The fly proper on the one hand is "making eye contact" (chuckle) and the incredible fern on the other hand, with those nobly spores.
The colours are very rich while the DOF is great and shows all the detail that matters. The BG is super and the exposure was well managed (slightly darkish, but I think that adds to the atmosphere of the photo).
Very well done and TFS.

Skote Petoors.

Hi Jannie,
I really like your composition in this one. Very cool! Strong light and shadows, but you handled it well. The strong contrast really adds alot to the overall mood of the photo. Looks great!

Hi Jannie, this is a very orginal composition - I like it. The bars of the fern with this little chap sitting on top makes a great picture. Well done.
