C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S!
This is once again an outstanding posting. This Egyptian goose surely has the right pose to do this very important announcement. I can compare this majestic bird with you and can see in my minds eye, the pride you emanate, as you want to give the message. "Look at me, I have made it. Nothing is going to stop me now!"
Just look at how the chest are pushed being forward. The head backwards, the legs straight. Everything just right. All that this bird needs is a bowtie, and a cigar.
By the way, I just want to tell you that it is your fault that I do not have any fingernails left. I saw what you wrote to Manyee about cursing you, and you could not be more right. (However I did not curse you, but wondered if you got any nightmares, because I was thinking of you so often, and wondering, maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day, but nothing.)
Anyway the wait was worth it. The stamp of approval will be applied more than once to this photo. Every single photo in your portfolio deserves a star. But I am afraid my stars are going to run out soon, and then I do not know what I am going to do.
I want to end off by saying (before I take all the space again, and the other people??????? ha-ha-ha you know what……….)
You and Shorty must have a wonderful time, next week. I am sure we can expect a range of superb photos from your trip, and I’ll wait in great expectation. (I do not know if my nails will be able to grow back to normal again.)
Tell her I say, she is a star, for arranging all these surprises for you. Your must haven eaten more than one bag of salt together to reach, this milestone of 26 years of marriage.
Ok this time I’ll really say goodbye.
It’s going to be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng wait. But I’ll wait.

First of all I would like to congratulate you and your wife for the wonderful anniversary of 26 years of marriage! I'm looking forward to seeing your post of your 50 years of marriage anniversary! Also congratulations for your 100th post on Trek Nature! This goose really has a posture that says "look how proud I am for what I have achieved so far"! It shows really well what you must be feeling like!
There's nothing I could improve here! You followed the rule of thirds by having the upper and lower thirds of the picture brown and the middle third blue. The goose was also placed into a powerful point of the picture facing towards the empty area in front of it! The well controlled DOF assured a gradual increasing of the blurriness in the background and together with the lack of distracting objects isolates the subject very well! The pose of the goose is well readable against the background which also is a positive thing!
The colors are well saturated and natural. Your picture looks more harmonious due to the brown hues present in both foreground and background! The red color in the legs add a touch of chromatic diversity!
Excellent overall contrast! Also the contrast between the white and black feathers is very good and helps isolating the bird even better.
In spite of the great differences in luminosity (between black and white) you exposed the scene very well! You captured great details in the plumage without overexposing the highlights or underexposing the shadows! Even the area under the left wing which is in shade preserved great details!
Focus was achieved on the subject and the relatively large aperture created a great DOF. This resulted in a wonderful contrast between the sharp details in the foreground and the blurriness in the background.
You did an excellent job here and provided very good notes! You definitely deserve the one week vacation in Kwa-Zulu Natal midlands! Enjoy it and come back with great photos! Thank you for sharing!
With Friendly Regards,
- Watershed (291)

Looks like this guy's heart is bleeding for you.
I sincerely congratulate you on both counts as follows:-
Firstly, on a smashing 26 years of marital bliss and still going strong. It really seems like a praiseworthy achievement in today's society. You and Anna are truly blessed and although she might be the "biggest gift you ever received in life" (as you said), but perhaps too you are the "biggest gift she ever received in life".
Secondly, on your 100th posting to celebrate a great innings at TN to date. You have build up a fabulous portfolio that includes amazing material while it also reveals your growth over the last 14 months. It contains incredible stories contained within the notes of each posting, and your further activities through critiques and forum contributions are nothing short of incredible. As other members also commented, you are an outstanding and valuable asset to this site. Thank you.
As far as the photo goes, it is a magnificent shot of this goose stretching out and prancing for you. Great timing and excellent point of view. The colours are rich, the details are sharp, and the light was just great. Well done.

Ricardo
Thank you for your cordial and amicable message in your last comment dear friend... here I return to enjoy images like this so imposing for the composition and the captured point of view, with good focusing and the opportune shot to capture so unusual posture.
I like the elected framing where the background doesn't interfere with the protoginst´s vision, with good use of the light and correct DOF.
A very slight and punctual loss of sharpness exists on some areas of the bird, although for the used values, I ignore the origin.
And thank you for your 100 presentations, for your contribution with TN and for your affable way of criticizing.
My best regards... Ricardo

A little late, but congratulations on your 100th post and congratulations on your 26th wedding anniversary.
It looks like the goose is about to announce your two anniversaries to the world. Taking a deep breath of air to shout it out. A wonderful powerful pose, where you kept great control over the exposure. The composition where the goose is positioned on the 1/3 line is perfect and gives the photo the right dynamic touch. Colors and DOF are great and the low POV is to me awesome.
P.S. up to the next big milestone!

The mighty 100, done in such style and individuality, you really are a pillar of this community having thrown yourself into it whole-heartedly and always giving excellent critiques, advice and knowledge of the natural world. You also have the personal touch - always making the point to make connections with people through your photographs, notes and feedback.
A massive congratulations as well for your anniversary, pretty special and extremely noteworthy. Those trips away sound amazing!
To the photo then. I found it difficult enough to find something suitable for my 50th but 100 must be even harder! You've picked a great one here, it almost looks it imitating a cormorant in that pose. The light is superb and has brought all the colour out across the body. Your low point of view was the right one getting us eye level. It must be the shallow depth of field that has caused the water in the background to take on that fantastic effect - it appears though it has been given a separate long exposure! Focus is spot on giving fine details on the bird. Composition excellent, the space on the left is a logical step.
The Egyptian Goose is a funny bird and I've seen it do some strange things in the park near me...even flying up into a tree to sit with all the songbirds, very odd sight indeed!
I raise my glass to you Loot, congrats.

Returning to the picture: What an impressing pose from the bird! Details, exposition, the composition, the natural colors make that picture a great one!!! I like also the nice blue coming from the water enhancing the bird!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful Egyptian goose as part as your 100th posting with us. This photo is jam packed with awesome detail and features, and to describe a bird and pose as beautiful as this is actually time wasting, as only word is needed Gorgeous. The arrangement of soft but warm colours, as well as some prominent features is ever so striking. A good close-up with clear details. I enjoyed the sight. The red legs that looks like they just have been painted is just to die for and really add some extra oomph to this super image. Thanks for sharing. Love.Anna
