for the reflection of the bird being partly rippled does help for it not to take away the focal beauty of the subject..
for me reflections are for landscapes and give double beauty
you got a really sharp eye and highlight..blissful feather detail and textures and water movements..

Hallo Annick,
Wat een fantastische serie foto's heb je ons inmiddels vanuit het Krugerpark laten zien. En er komt (gelukkig) maar geen einde aan. Ook deze is weer topklasse. Heel bijzonder vind ik de reflectie van het water in de veren.

Very nice capture with the reflection. Excellent detail as usual. Strangely enough this bird, although very common in Southern Africa, is very seldom seen in water which makes your photo particularly interesting.

This has a wonderful artistic look to it.
I think the lighting,colours and reflections come together to give this image an almost painting like quality.
The composition is well done,and the reflections are superb.
The water helps illuminate the plumage adding extra detail and definition.
The POV is excellent.

I missed this superb capture of the African Blacksmith Lapwing.
Apart from the excellent technical qualities, the lighting is superb here. The colours and of the water and the refection make a superb BG as well in this great composition.
One of the best wader shots on TN!

Trying to catch-up desperately with what i've lost :(
Again i find myself in a huge lack of time so i'll only refer to a couple of your magnificent shots in hope you will understand :)

Another fantastic close up and an outstanding composition created by this bird and it's reflection.
However, i think that there is much more to it than just that:
- i find the nice ripples on the water to be a great touch and addition for the picture
- also, fact that the bird is black&white (mostly) attract attention and even more brings it out in a very warm and nicely colored reflection of its habitat (in the upper part of the frame).
All these elements, plus the terrific details and excellent DOF make this one impressive shot, my friend!

I thought I had already commented on this fine capture but now realize that I mixed it up with Loot's!! This is another wonderful view of the Blacksmith Lapwing. Great focus and very sharp details. Wonderful light and reflections in the water too. Excellent work!
