Habitat

Chacmas inhabit a wide array of habitats, from the grassy alpine slopes of the Drakensberge to the Kalahari desert. The Chacma Baboon is omnivorous with a preference for fruits, while also eating insects, seeds and smaller vertebrate animals. The Chacma Baboon is generally a scavenger when it comes to game meat and rarely engages in hunting large animals. There has been one incident where a Chacma Baboon has killed an infant, however the event is so rare the locals believed it was due to witchcraft. Normally, a Chacma Baboon will not approach humans and/or have much interest in them. This has been changing due to the number of tourists who feed baboons, thereby teaching them that humans are a source of food.

Thanks for looking..

Hello Annick,

This is a very good photo with the babon showing it in a natural pose. The image is very good showing sharply the details of the animal. Colors are looking very natural and the vivid green makes a fine contrast with baboon's fur.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi Annick. You have such detail in the eyes with your use of the light. and also the grey coat. Your use of the light has given natural colours. It looks so relaxed with its food. wel ldone TFS.
Nick..

Hi Annick,

Typical scene of these baboons as they are usually busy eating or just inspecting something. Good detail especially on the eyes which have so much expression. Glad of your inclusion in your note of tourist behavior which can cause serious problems.

Hello Annick,
What a brilliant capture of this Baboon in a lovely pose and very sharply in focus. Wonderful light and colours and a very fine composition.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Ya know....there are pictures and there are pictures....same word..different meaning depending on how one puts it...but this one strikes me at the funny bone...and no pun intended...Super capture...hey...Europe is open minded..the US is so provincially Victorian.....I almost with my 1600's relatives had been the part of the family who split off to Canada..but if wishes were horses, beggars would ride!

Bonjour Annick,
Anne
