Another Baboon study in terms of photography.
The location is situated close to restcamp Skukuza somewhere along the Sabie river in the southern part of Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Very good light conditions; sunset lighting.

ISO 640

Digital editing workflow:
Lightroom 1.4, Camera Raw v 4.6 and finally Adobe Photoshop CS3.

For specific info about this species, I refer to the Chacma Baboon theme.

General info Baboons..
The baboons are African Old World monkeys belonging to the genus Papio, part of the subfamily Cercopithecinae.. There are five species, which are some of the largest non-hominid members of the primate order.
A hominid is any member of the biological family Hominidae (the "great apes"), including the extinct and extant humans, chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans

Hi Annick,
this is a very well composed picture with both baboons out of center, The details and sharpness are really good and with nice
OOF in the BG, the front baboon is almost out of the frame, it's great. The colours and exposure are also on top.
Great work, my friend.

Hi Annick,
A very well taken monkey portrait with fine details and good moment captured, with the another one blurred, that is the best because not "stolen " the attention to main subject

Hello Annick,

Wow! Wonderful picture of this baboons!!! I like the POV you took by having both baboons perfectly framed. f/4.5 was a perfect choice in having the second baboon out of focus but not too much. We can feel the curiosity of this second one by the eye contact that both have. The first one has a so intelligent look too! I like this green herb bringing colors to the whole picture and the remarkable details in the fur!

Great job and TFS!

Bags of character and as always, those primate eyes hold so much for us to contemplate. Well seen composition with a perfect DOF my friend...awesome as always.

The sharpness is superb and the curiosity of both animals is very powerful. The greenery add nice interest and breaks up the almost monochromatic shot. Nice work.

Hello Annick,

You have captured so well the look of this baboon. I like very much the light in it's eyes. The green plant from baboon mouth catches the sight of the viewer focusing it's attention on the main subject.

Thank you for sharing,

Hi Annick

Another outstanding shot here from you, my friend!
The pose from this baboon is simply magnificent...and also funny! :)) Your timing couldn't have been any better!
On top of that, i also like the other one in the BG - his presence is felt but the fact that it's out of focus makes all the attention concentrated on the first one, while giving a natural feeling for the shot in the mean time.
A truly remarkable job!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Annick,
Outstanding shot of this Baboon couple with very impressive sharpness and clarity. Great expression captured and I like the way the OOF Baboon is trying to get attention. Excellent DOF, POV and composition.
