Hi Anna, as you say, he probably isn't the prettiest bird we've seen, but he sure has a great personality, which you have captured to the hilt. I love the glossy plummage and that red bill. Look at the way he's posing, he owns the place. Even his name is cool. TFS and have a lovely Sunday, Lisa

By far the best and most beautiful photo of this species I've ever seen. Fantastic colours and very good sharpness and details. Very nice pose, POV, eye contact and contrasting BG.
I can't see the result of the flash.

Very good photo, Anna. It would have been perfect if it had a glint in the eye, but one cannot always have everything. Is it possible to get a bit more feather detail in the black areas? This, of course, is on of Africa's Small Five. Overall, a very good close-up of this bird, you were fortunate to see one so close. Well done!

Great shot of this striking bird - I don't think I have ever got remotely close enough to one to get a shot this good.
PS I am emailing you
Very good capture and composition for you red-billed buffalo weaver. Does it not also have the name because it is found on buffalo?
Very interesting note with your POV and good data for bird-lovers.
You also managed excellent detail on the bird with a good exposure to illustrate beautifully what has been said.
Well done and TFS

Its difficult to believe that you are taking photographs of these birds & animals with cybershot. They look DSLR variety perse their richness in the subjectís details & sharpness within the frame of reference. TFS

Extremely wonderful photo and useful note of a bird which I've never seen before. Great exposure and colors. I don't agree with the opinion this isn't the prettiest bird - by my opinion every creature of nature is pretty except for mankind (overall). Incredible "this-is-my-territory" pose, while photographically a second to none capture. Bravo Madame.
At the same time I'd like to say a big thanx to You for all the in-depth and useful critiques You used to write about my fungi shots. It's fantastic to know there's someone living so far from me, but she likes my "models" as much as I. This is what's called "TrekNature-spirit". Persons like You are the ones we're here for.
Friendly regards from the European winter, LŠszlů

A wonderful photo of this beautiful bird that you encountered while at Kruger. I must say the very first thing that caught my eye was it's large feet and stout looking legs. With legs like this he could be a running back for any football team.
You managed to capture fine detail and excellent exposure in what appears to be very sunny conditions. I'm not sure if it is reflection or just the angle of the shot, but he seems to have some orangish coloring on his breast.

During our absence I missed out on some of your shots.
This fine capture of a Red-billed Buffalo Weaver caught my eye. The sharp details and colours make this a fine portrait taken from an excellent POV against a contrasting sandy BG. The side lighting is just right too.
Thanks and have a good week,
