The Crested Francolin (Dendroperdix sephaena) is a fairly common resident of Kruger National Park and much of northeastern South Africa. It is also found in many countries of eastern sub-Saharan Africa where suitable habitat exists. It is found in woodland and savannah, especially in thornveld.
In summer feeds mainly on insects while in winter it is mainly herbivorous (underground corms and bulbs, above ground shoots, leaves, fruits and berries).
This one was from a waterhole near Satara camp.

Hello Chris.
The low POV gave a fine capture of this species of Francolin taken with excellent sharpness and natural colours against the OOF natural BG.
I don't know if this applies to the Crested, but francolins are normally wary and hard to approach, so if this is a the case you did well to take this.

A very nicely timed capture of this Francolin with great eye contact and showing sharp details of its plumage. Beautiful colours too and well framed.
