Make no mistake those two bad guys here are not George and Laszlo! They are the south American Guira Cuckoo - meat eaters! I took this image at a newly build bird park in Johannesburg!
The Guira Cuckoo is a noisy bird. It usually utters plaintive whistles “pio…pio…pr…prr…prrr”. We can also hear more guttural calls, high-pitched gurgling trills and a “creep”.

BEHAVIOUR:
The Guira Cuckoo is a gregarious species. It often feeds on the ground in flocks of up to 20 birds. This species feeds mainly on insects, frogs, eggs and chicks of small birds’ species.
It commonly forages on the ground in meadows and pastures, in dry open habitats. In social groups, the birds forage near each other and stay in contact by squeaky calling.

This image is dedicated to : Laszlo, for his "terrible" straightforwardness, to Jesus for his big heart, for Gert Ellstrom for his undeniably love for photography and nature, for Peter van Zoest for his endless love for birds, for Asbed for his unique stile in his photography, for Siggi for his understanding, for Jusni for his bright smile, for Foozi for his friendly approach, for sERGIO for his unique photography, for Luciano for his friendliness, for Roberto for his perfectionism, for Marius for the cleanest brightness and finest images ever, for Christodoulos one of the greatest photographers on this site ever, for Paul (Animal Explorer) for the ultimate in nature photography presentations, for Mikolaj and Maciek for their lovely landscapes, for Ivan(Argus) for his priceless knowledge for every kind of species, for Razvan for his fine bird images, for Anne(Anel) for accepting me as a friend, For Frans,Ulla,Silvio,Pambos, Peter (FunkyMunky),Gérard,Rick, Omer, Bayram, Cathy,Ori,Vinay,Ram,Paolo,Maurizio,Szabo,Nagraj,Gert Paassen,Nikos, Sami,Antonio,Michel,Ahmet,Vipin and everyone who has been around me during those few months. Thank you all!

Image was taken in RAW, ISO400, Aperture priority and Evaluative metering system.

Thanks for visiting!

I had no chance to read your comments before they was censored. So I don't know what to say about the warnings.
But I can say this you both "bad guys" are needed here for honest comments and for help other less experience members.
A I said to Laszlo we need more of honest members not fewer.
The moderators welcome honest critiques and even zero pointers,
as i read in the forum, so just keep on.

Hello George,
such a stunning capture of the two ( not bad ) guys. Excellent details with streaming feathers on the head. The dark lines really offer an amazing effect to the patterns. The composition is so smooth with contrast and harmony blended into an attractive composition. What is more exciting is looking at the facial expression of the birds with sharp and shiny eyes.
Very wonderful scene well depicted in full of technical flair.
No one can deny that this is an amazing presentation.
Again, such a pleasant view and thanks for mentioning my name in your notes. Really appreciate it.

Regards,
Foozi

Hi George,

What a beautiful capture of the "two nice-bad guys". The picture is pretty sharp and full of rich colours.

Thank you for sharing and a Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Regards,
Vinay

Thanks for the bright smile dedication George. To me there are no bad guys in TN as the written words are making me smile. No need for green smiley or any smileys at all. I am just happy to interact and looking at splendid images like this. The technical advises on photography are well appreciated to help me learn which I never learned actually :-)
Nice upload of an excellent birds and technically excellent in photographic sense. Very good in everything as you have consistently produced.

Thanks again and have a joyous snowless Christmas in the southern hemisphere.
Kind regards - Jusni

Hello Gearge,
great capture, vivid colors, very sharp details and excellent POV,
TFS, regards,
Nikos.

Hi George,

Not only photographically fantastic, but the hidden and denied allegory also!!! Ha ha! Good evening MF! Two bad guys are worse than thousand good ones! :)

Have a break. A few days... a few weeks... your decision. And when you feel the real hyatus of friends and photography, come back with your beautiful photos and straight comments. Just look at the queue how many friends want you to stay! And Jesus, one of our best friends, still comes... (at this moment there's noon time in South America).

Photographically (remember the sanctioned TOS: critiques must be on-topic) a gorgeous image with excellent sharpness, colors and white balance + a very pleasing composition. Bravo.

So, my dear noisy friend with guttural calls. :) After your (hopefully short) break we're waiting for your comeback! Have a great festive season with your family, and forget this "christmas present of the TN crew". All the best, friendly regards, László

Hallo George,
fantastic picture ... ..., i admire your photographic skills, but i mostly admire your strong personality, your sensitive nature and your ironic approach too
TFS
Best regards
Maurizio

Hi George,
The photo of the bad guys is outstanding! The sharpness and colours are excellent and there is adequate DOF.
Very many thanks for the dedication it is really appreciated.
Best regards, Pambos

A little funny looking photo but very sharp and crisp.

An expertly conducted macro-study and a fine example of limited focus usage in close up work George, the chosen specimens do look very interested in your work MF, keep up the good work in the coming New Year!

Stunning image George,
Exceptional detail and very attractive colors. Not very often do you see birds with this color of bills. Their plumage reminds me of someone who has just blow dried their hair and hasn't run a comb through it yet. Excellent work!!

Beautiful photo with very good composition, wonderful warm colours and good sharpness.

Tebrik ederim, saygılarımla..

Ciao George. Impressive! Superb work. very well done and happy new year to you!

Hello George,
I was missed this!
They are like my two hamsters mices but with a orange bill placed on the tip! I think I will name my Hamsters "Laszlo & George".... haaaa .... haaaa .... :) Don't worry, are two males MF!... haaaa.... haaaa.... :
Thank you very much for including me in the dedication and for say "I have great heart", I do not think my heart is so big! But I appreciate the gesture very much! ... Now I remember that incident almost ended in 2010, bad thing, I hope not repeat this kind of censorship in TN! ... But it is past! ... fortunately!
The picture is very eloquent, and the birds are very helpful in promoting the eloquence of this image. Good job!
