Its back and wings are maroon, with the shoulders heavily speckled with white spots. The underparts are maroon with heavy white spotting, and the head is grey with yellow patches around the eye, and a yellow bill. The neck plumage, used in display, is streaked maroon and white, the underwing and undertail are dark grey, and the feet are yellow.

Your return to TN after some hiatus is welcome, Mr Veltchev.
The last of your work we saw here some months ago was classic and momentous.
This image of an African Olive Pigeon clearly belongs to your classic creations with marked professional touch to them.
Thanks for adding some charm to this otherwise sagging website through your distinguished image.

Hi George.
Colouration fot he bird is really great. I have never seen this species before. Diagonal, created by impressive tree branch as well as nicely blurred BG supplement a perfect image of the pigeon excellently. Warm regards and best wishes.

Hello George,
What a gorgeous pigeon you have presented to us. I love the dark maroon body and snowflake like spots. The brilliant yellow eye ring, bill and feet add a beautiful contrasting effect to it's already striking plumage.
I have had a love for pigeons since I was a young boy and actually raised Birmingham Roller Pigeons. Unfortunately I had a big problem with hawks picking them right out of mid air and carrying them off into the woods.
I still like watching them fly freely and wish I could experience such a feat myself, but with my luck I would probably just get carried off into the woods by a really huge hawk:)

Hello again, George
It's always nice to see a posting from you, even if we both feel that this site has largely deteriorated into a disingenuous mutual back-slapping club ;-) There are still a number of worthwhile contributors, though - so for now ... Your pigeon portrait is just beautiful - exquisitely lit, lovely composition and the fact that it's so spectacularly coloured does not hurt either! As ever, I would prefer to see a personal note, though - even if it does take more time.
Best wishes, Nigel.
