I have captured this picture of a herd of Cape Buffalo in Orpen;Kruger National Park;South Africa

Africa's Cape Buffalo have been dubbed the "Black Death" by those who have borne witness to their awesome power.

The African Buffalo or Cape Buffalo(Syncerus caffer) is a large African Bovine.

The African Buffalo is not the ancestor of domestic cattle, and is only distantly related to other larger bovines, which makes it highly dangerous to humans, the African Buffalo has never been domesticated unlike its Asian counterparts, the Asian Buffalo.

Genus:Syncerus(Hodgson 1847)
Species:S.caffer(Sparrman 1779)

The African Buffalo is a very robust species. Its shoulder height can range from 1 to 1.7 m and its head-and-body length can range from 1.7 to 3.4 m.It has a long but stocky body and short but thickset legs. The tail can range from 70 to 110 cm.Savannah-type Buffaloes weigh 500 to 900 Kg,with males normally larger than females, reaching the upper. Weight range.Savannah-type buffaloes have black or dark brown coats with age.Old bulls have whitish circles around their eyes.

Hello Srikumar,
Original choice to present this scene in black and white. Great timing with the buffalo in front looking at you. Beautiful contrast between dark/shadow and light. Very good DOF and composition.

Hello Srikumar,
A great shot of this herd of what many consider to be one of the most dangerous and unpredictable animals in Africa. I like your choice to go B&W, as the different shades of light and dark shadows add much to the overall beauty of the image.
I don't believe I would have wanted to snap this shot unless there was a fast, sturdy and dependable vehicle nearby:)

Hi Sri,
Beautifully composed photo, and the choice of b/w, concerning to the title, is really good. I love the eye contact with the closest buffalo, and the way how you composed / cropped the entire image with the animals, the scrub in the background and a piece of the sky as the 3rd layer! Excellent! Bravo!
Best wishes, László
