I had captured this picture of "Dwarf Mongoose" in Orpen ( Maroela Caravan Camp Area ), in Kruger National Park, South Africa. They are really very small and to take a ground level shot (otherwise photograph doesn't look perfect to me ) here again I lied on the dusty ground. It was a Sunny day and this cute small species were busy to collect insects on the dry ground.

*Scientific Name :- Helogale parvula
*Weight :- 1lb.
*Size :- 8 to 12 in. long
*Habitat :- Diet :- Carnivorous
*Gestation :- 50 to 54 days
*Predators :- Birds of prey, Snake

*Mongoose are found in most parts of Africa. They can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests and semiarid areas of Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia.

*Dwarf Mongooses are a highly social species, living in group of up to 40 members dominant female is the highest-ranking member of the group, initiating movements between burrows and enjoying first access to food. The dominant female and her mate are typically the only members of the group to breed. Other adult members of the group help to raise young by cleaning them, carrying them and bringing them food.

*Humans hunt mongooses. In some region of Africa, the mongoose is eaten. It is also persecuted as an egg thief in regions where its habitat is in close proximity to humans.

Hi Srikumar
Cute mongoose, nicely captured against such a vanished background. It is interesting to know how these creatures help to maintain the ecological balance in his area.

Hello Srikumar
A wonderful shot of an animal not often seen here on TN. I remember as a young boy hearing about this unique animal and it's ability to fight and kill venomous snakes.
You again had to get dirty for a shot, and as before it has paid off nicely in your favor. Great facial look and beautiful colors. Love the low POV and clean BG.

nice sharp portrait, TFS Ori

Sri, great, great, great, photographic capture. Great job with this beautiful mongoose. Well resolved the terrible sun exposure that looms large in the image. Crystal-clear coat and an enviable eye contact. Really dimensions perfectly proportioned; are a prize you've dirtied your clothes to lie down to ground. Congratulations, hunter!

Hi Sri,
What a fantastic shot! The mongoose's face's tack sharp and there's a beautiful eye contact with the small mammal. Excellent, such as the simpliness of the shot, the background isn't busy, DoF is perfect and the white balance is lovely. Amazing shot, congratulations!
Best regards, László
