[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture of the spotted hyena was taken in the Kruger National Park. Lion killed a buffalo three days before and stayed with the carcass. On the third day the lions left and the hyenas moved in for their feast.

The spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta) has the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom. Of the three species of hyena in Africa, only the spotted hyena and the shy and much rarer, striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena) are found in East Africa. The smaller and even shyer brown hyena (Hyaena brunnea) occurs only in southern Africa. Different from most other animals, female spotted hyenas are dominant over the males and outweigh them by about 3 pounds.

Hi Anton,
Good composition and color on this photograph. And the fact that one of the hyenas has spotted you and watches.

Hi Anton !
It is a very good shot .Color ,composition and details are very good.Well done !

yummy, buffalo for dinner.
excellent "action"-shot, anton! :-)
great composition and nice bloody details,
i really like the one looking in the camera, like he is still very hungry,
and the blurred vultures in the bg definitely add a plus to the scene.
well seen & captured, thor.

Great light for a perfect composition.
I love this photo that shows the 'real Africa' in one of my fovourite park: the Kruger.

Wonderful photo, composition and technically wise! Thanks for sharing - Xplorator Radu
