[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Light travels at 186 300 miles per second. Hence from earth to moon takes just over 1 light second and from the sun to us ± 8 light minutes. More than 100 times the diameter of the earth, the sun is the photographer’ best friend. There’s no light like sunlight, & the “Golden Hour” at dawn & dusk is the subtle alchemist that transmutes mundane light into a pot of gold, magical, mystical & tantalising. Many people look at sunset/risers & say “So what” this is just another cliché picture. To me, the canvas of the sky, & the colours splashed randomly across it, as well as the props in the foreground form a never ending kaleidoscope & I never tire of it. So, bring on the dawns & dusks on TE. This picture was taken in Kruger National Park during June 03. It is similar to the one on TE. I placed the sun on purpose behind the tree to make the silhouette pop. Taken with the camera resting on the roof of the car, half of my body outside, as a lure to the cats that just did not make their appearance! (just joking, but the things we do to get a picture.) Nikon F100, Sigma 28-105 F2.8-4 lens and 81B warm-up filter. Fuji Provia F100 slide scanned on Epson 240 flatbed scanner, cropped a little off the black, added a bit to the sky. Hue/saturation, USM and educed to site size. Enjoy another aspect of out country – a bushveld sunset.

I can feel the heat! It's another beauty Callie. Really nice composition and colour. Great with the yellow of the sunlight directly behind the tree, great notes too.

Very good Callie.
Great colors and very nice compo.
Good note as usual.
Well done

Callie, Great shot with beautiful (hot) atmosphere. Wonderful colours you created here. Beautiful country indeed.
Greetings, Jan

Hi Callie, nice to see you. This is a really nice sunset here, no doubt about it. Everything looks good, but I would personally prefer if that small portion of tree on the right hand side were cropped slightly. Other than that, very well done.

Wow, and pop it does. This is a great shot. I love the panorama of sunsets; being a nightowl I rarely see sunrise.

Well it looks like SA could be a holiday destination for us after seeing your great work on here!
Great composition and yes you can almost feel the heat.
Beautiful tones of colour and nice sillouettes of the trees.
Excellent work,very well done.

Callie this is a stunning landscape. Very nice composition. Excellent focal point of sun behind the tree. Great work. Great note. Thanx.

bonsoir Callie.
cet arbre est superbe et l'avoir positionné derrière ce soleil couchant en fait un superbe cliché.
vraiment tres beau

A classical beauty, Callie. Fabulous hues of orange and yellow, and a very effective use of the tree silhouettes and low horizon. Perhaps a little crop at the right to offcenter the tree some more would also look good. Great notes, too, very good job.

Callie, dit is zonder meer de mooiste boom-en-zon combinatie die ik ooit heb gezien. Ongelooflijk warme tinten, en een mooi silhouet erbij. Knap gedaan, deze zonsopgang.

Great shot! I believe that capturing sunrise/sunsets was the thing that originally got me hooked into digital photograpy in the first place. I just posted a "Golden Sunset" from 3 days ago on TE. On this photo your timing is about perfect-it's that moment when the colors reach there zenith your looking for..You got it!

Excellent picture. The colors are perfect and I really like the silluett of the acacia tree. Good note as well.

Quelle majestueuse silhouette! L'embrasement des couleurs chaudes du soleil couchant apporte la totale beauté de cette splendide vue.
Bravo Callie, well done!

Slendid Sunset Callie!

Excellent exposure and POV. Sunset for sunset are usually not that attractive, but here the silouette of the tree makes it great.

Excellent work and TFS.
