Once again, I admit I donít really know what this bird is, I think itís a hawk. Any member who an expert in birds, let me know so I can look up for more info about this bird.

I saw this beautiful bird on the top of the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania early in the morning, It was sitting there waiting very patiently looking for his prey. It must had spotted something, when it suddenly take off and flew so fast down and caught whatever little critter he was after.

Once again, thank you for those who ID this bird as "Augur Buzzard" for me. Below is more information of the bird from the ďU.S. Fish & WildlifeĒ

Hunting mostly from a perch in mountains and hilly open plains areas. The Augur Buzzard feeds largely on small ground mammals. It has also been known to eat snakes and other reptiles, as well as birds, and the occasional insect. This raptor is very talented at flying and will often use warm air currents to stay aloft while searching for prey. When it has spotted a suitable meal, the Augur Buzzard drops sharply, as if it has fallen from the sky.

This raptor was bred in captivity for the first time in 1998 by the World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis. In 1999, there were less than 2 dozen Augur buzzards in the United States

The Augur Buzzard is the most common raptor in its range. Lately, however, human encroachment and development have been destroying much of this birdís natural habitat. Today, conservation groups are working to conserve and restore the natural habitat for this raptor.

A nice capture of what looks like an adult Buteo augur (Jackal or Augur buzzard), a common species, seeming fierce and robust as it is.

Hi Way

Another splendid capture from you!
Yes, it also looks like a hawk to me, too, but apparently Umit Kebapci has already pointed out the species here...isn't Tn great? :)
Anyway, i really enjoy this beautiful shot in which the subject is so detailed and wonderfully colored.
The BG here is also great and i think it enhances the features of the buzzard.
Very nicely framed and composed.

Bravo and TFS
