This one is dedicated to Asbed, who has been there for me since the day I started here.

It was a drizzly morning at the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way down to the crater. I spotted this beautiful Augur Buzzard is sitting on the mound on the road side Looking down the crater for it prey. It turned to look at us once we stopped to take picture of it. He flew away after I took a couple of shots.

Hunting mostly from a perch in mountains and hilly open plains areas. The Augur Buzzard feeds largely on small ground mammals. It has also been known to eat snakes and other reptiles, as well as birds, and the occasional insect. This raptor is very talented at flying and will often use warm air currents to stay aloft while searching for prey. When it has spotted a suitable meal, the Augur Buzzard drops sharply, as if it has fallen from the sky.

This raptor was bred in captivity for the first time in 1998 by the World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis. In 1999, there were less than 2 dozen Augur buzzards in the United States

The Augur Buzzard is the most common raptor in its range. Lately, however, human encroachment and development have been destroying much of this bird’s natural habitat. Today, conservation groups are working to conserve and restore the natural habitat for this raptor.

This is a superb portrait of an impressive bird. I think that this is the first time I see this specie... Details, exposure, composition and tones of colors are very nice. I also like this pastel background and details on the vegetation. Well seen and thanks,

Hallo Way
I have not seen this image when it was posted and that is a pity, because it is a stunning photo. A wonderful image with clear details of this majestic bird. Your focus here was spot on, which is proof to me of your great talent as photographer. A lovely close-up pose with stunning colours and sharp details. I like the brightness of the paws and the patch of orange just below the eyes. The coloured patterns and detail on the tailpiece feathers is really something special. Well done, it was a real pleasure to look at. Thanks for sharing this wonderful dedication.
Kind regards

Very nice capture of this beautiful bird. Good lighting and details.

Hello Way!
First of all - many thanks for adding my name to the list of your favourite TN photographers, it is really a great honour for me!!! :)

According to this picture I must say that this bird of prey looks very beautiful - very sharp, with good light, clarity and natural, vivid colours. It is reasting on the ground but it looks rather like sitting on the throne. Very well done!
