[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I saw this Pied Kingfisher on a construction site on the banks of Lake Victoria in Tanzania. I found it sitting on the top of the Iron rods and the reminiscence of the droppings in the rod indicated that these birds regularly use these rods as perch. I could see it holding an insect in its mouth. Normally they can swallow a small prey in a flight without returning to a perch. They used to feed on haplochromine cichlids, whose supply got reduced with the introduction of Nile Perch in Lake Victoria. Hence they have adopted to other feeds such as fish, crustaceans and large aquatic insects (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pied_kingfisher ) .

hallo Bala
very nice composition with good details and lovely colours
thanks gr lou

Hi Bala,
Nice capture, but the white halo all around the bird and bars is disturbing. I guess something went wrong during post processing. Do you still have the original? This bird deserves a repost as it is further an excellent capture with crisp clear details.
Best regards
JM

Hello Bala,

Hope you are doing fine. Nice to meet you and I also do hope you'll have a good time here. This is an excellent shot, top quality.JM is right about the correction process and the halo.
