Class: Insecta

Order: Hemiptera

Suborder: Heteroptera

Infraorder: Pentatomomorpha

Superfamily: Lygaeoidea

Family: Lygaeidae

The Lygaeidae are a family in the Hemiptera (true bugs), comprising twenty-one genera. The family includes insects commonly known as chinch bugs, milkweed bugs, and also some of those known as seed bugs (the "atypical seed bugs", Rhyparochromidae, were formerly placed herein too). Many of the species feed on seeds, although some are predators of other insects, some feed on sap (mucivory), and others feed on blood (hematophagy). The bizarre and mysterious beetle-like Psamminae were formerly often placed in the Piesmatidae, but this is almost certainly quite incorrect. Their true affiliations, however, are not entirely resolved to satisfaction.

Dimensioni: 12-14 mm.

I don't believe I have ever seen a porcelain background for an insect. It gives a strange but unique feeling to the shot. Neat trick! Show us more this way.

Cher Luciano!

Hello Luciano,
Beautiful Fire Bug on a strange BG. The bug is sharp and taken from a nice POV. For me the frame is a bit too heavy.

Bravo Luciano!
