This photo was taken during our trip to the ruins of ancient Carthege. This is an Asteriscus maritima. Many thanks to Ori Fragman Sapir (fragman) for ID! It's interesting that this plant can manage in such a hot environment.

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
Ancient Carthage (from Phoenician: קַרְתְּ חַדַשְתְּ, Qart-ḥadašt) was a civilization centered around the Phoenician city-state of Carthage, located in North Africa on the Gulf of Tunis, outside what is now Tunis, Tunisia. Originally a dependency of Tyre, Carthage gained independence around 650 BC and established a hegemony over other Phoenician settlements throughout North Africa and what is now Spain which lasted until 146 BC. At the height of the city's prominence, its influence extended over most of the western Mediterranean.
Carthage was in a constant state of struggle with the Roman Republic, which led to a series of conflicts known as the Punic Wars. After the third and final Punic War, Carthage was destroyed and then occupied by Roman forces. Nearly all of the other Phoenician city-states and former Carthaginian dependencies fell into Roman hands from then on.

Hallo Maciej.
Jak jestem w "cieplych" krajach to spotykam takie same przypadki i pytam tak jak Ty jak to jest mozliwe ze fauna i flora w takich warunkach nie tylko przezyje ale jak tu kwitnie jeszcze przepieknie.
Pozdrawiam Siggi
