To rest from all the creepy creatures, let's take the trip to Tunisia...

Here you can see the Chebika Oazis, a very beautiful place on the margin of the Atlas Mountains and Sahara desert, near the Tunisian-Algierian border. The natural springs in this arid landscape have enabled development of some lush vegetation and villages, some of them as old as some 2000 years. The place is one of the main date production area in North Africa.

Where is the water you could ask. Believe me, there is a small stream running down the valley. You can observe the range of its influence - the furthest palm trees on the hills...

You may also ask about the unclear patches of green on the plain. There is some xerophylic vegatation, that develops only in spring. And that was exactly the time I was there - rare ocasion to see the flowering desert. It lasts only for few weeks, when some showers or rather drizzles occur.

And if you wonder what is behind, looking a bit like a water surface (especially on the right side) and some hills (on the left) - that's a mirage...

Nigdy nie bylem na prawdziwej pustyni, ale bardzo bym chcial zobaczyc cos takiego na wlasne oczy. Ekstra kontrast pomiedzy palmami i morzem piachu. Swietny POV z bardzo rozleglym polem widzenia.

Thanks for the illustrated note Michal.
There is a clearly seen difference between the two ecosystems.
And thx for the bunch critiques that you did on my posts yesterday.

Regards, petru

Hi Michal,
A graphic expample of how vital water really is needed for life. Excellent landscape shot. The change in ecosystems is very dramatic.

Good detail, colours and sharpness. Composition and exposure are spot on. Good framing and notes. I also visited Tozeur on a trip to Tunisia in 2000, it's a lovely place.
