Naming a bushshrike Laniarius
Although all bush shrikes are from the same genus Laniarius black and white species are called boubous, black, white and chestnut species are called bush shrikes and black and red species are boubous, life is complicated sometimes.
This is a Papyrus Gonolek Laniarius mufumburi sitting on a …papyrus.

Hello Tom,
Very nice photo of this Yellow-crowned Gonolek. I've photographed it in Senegal. a beautiful bird. Nice to see the eye between the Papyrus leaves. Good sharpness and a fine choice of composition.

Hi Tom,this pic is a great spectacle, you caught the opportunity of this difficult location to create a fantastic shot, great details everywhere and the red of laniarius that is like the cherry on the cake.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi friend,

Well captured.but very difficult composition.

Great colour-contrast with this red in the fine green bush. Well done

Amazing photo Tom! The combination of the bird and the plant is fantastic!

Excellent light through the papyrus head. A pity the bird would not show its body a bit more, but the colours are really nice.

Hello Tom

I love this kind of environmental photos of birds / wild animals,
here a lovely lateral light (coming from the right side)
and beautiful contrast of the bird's color tones with
its environment's color tones, TFS
