The Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, Bycanistes subcylindricus, also known as Grey-cheeked Hornbill, is a large, approximately 70 cm long, black and white hornbill. It has an over-sized blackish bill with large casque on top. The female is slightly smaller than the male.
The Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill is distributed to evergreen forests and savanna across equatorial Africa, in central and western Africa. A monogamous species, pairs nest in suitable tree cavities. The female usually lays up to two eggs. The diet consists mainly of figs, fruits, insects and small animals found in the trees.
Widespread and still common throughout its large habitat range, the Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill is evaluated as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Hola trotamons !!

Hello Ferran,
It's not an easy task to get a photo from a dark bird against a clear sky, but you did it,and the result is pretty good
Well done

Woww... what a strange bird. Excellent capture of this beauty which it is a novelty for me. TFS and cheers,

Hello Ferran,
Very good work in sharpness and colour managing. I've seen this species a couple of times in Africa in different countries and it's not easy to get a good photo of it. This is one of the best I've ever seen in a great composition.

Hi Ferran,

nice pov and composion of this bird.
Good of sharpness with beautiful colours.
Personally, I think a little shadow and highlight brings your more detail in the black feathers.
Beautiful natural colours.

Hola Ferran,
Excelente imagen del singular Hornbill.
Muy buena la manera en que lograste armar la composición, con las diagonales marcadas por la rama y el pájaro.
Enhorabuena y gracias por comaprtir la foto.
Un gran saludo,

Hi Ferran,
Very good capture of this Hornbill; great pose and composition, sharp details and clear natural colours, good eye contact.

Hi Ferran,

I have only seen pictures of Hornbills - on my list of birds I would love to see. You did a wonderful job capturing this one and in a marvelous pose completely unhidden. Your blacks and whites are excellent. Razor sharp derails showing off that strange beak, the beautiful plummage and wonderful tail feathers. The blue sky is a perfect background and the composition is superb.

Hi Ferran

Great shot - excellent pose with good detail. Well seen and captured.

Hi Ferran

Good shot of this species I've not seen before. I think you could have done a bit of PP work to highlight the plumage better, but its still OK.

wow, great hornbill, TFS Ori
