Hello Tom,
Fantastic photo of this bat. I saw them too when I was Uganda, many years ago. I think it's the Straw-colored Fruit Bat, eidolon helvum. Specially when I look at the size and colours. Colonies of them roost in tall trees in many African cities and towns.
This photo is a little masterpiece in a great composition.

Perfect, just perfect. This is really an amazing shot by its subject and the sharpness you have reached. Sometimes it is worth to make a lot of shots. I also like the horiziontal framing and the fine harmonious colours.

Hi Tom, Amazing clarity and sharpness of this Fruit-bat. Bats only active in the dark night and you could able to catch this shot with the bat flying, you are very good at photography. Incredible shot. Thank for sharing

Hello Mr.Tom,
To me it was not an easy task to capture a Bat in dark.Due to their swiftness and in dark one must need good accuracy.Excellent timing with good lighten the subject.I like its details too.Just one question-have you used Tripod(because I'm learning watching you all pictures)?

fascinating capture of splendid fruit bat. The bats are top fovourite for me.
Sorry for delay. I have waited your reply because I cant edit this message. Well, At least twelve Fruit Bats (Pteropodidae) species have been known in Uganda. This is smaller one and I can say easily that this is not Eidolon helvum and Hypsignathus monstrosus or other two Rousettus.
I delete six Epauletted Fruit Bats with longer muzzle and gemeral habitus (appearance). Finally yours may be Micropteropus pusillus or Myonycteris torquata.
I may say more sure after seeing close-up from original RAW and/or additional shots.
