[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Do beetles actually drink a water? that question rising when I see this weevil beetle plunging its snout to the rain drop, in fact many beetles get there water supply directly from any plant their digest. Honestly this beetles not in its real position , I just help it and put it in the pegagan leaf when my daughter found it washed over to our door step by flood. Then I decide to take a photo of it., there are two info I want to share here first about the beetle the second about the plant.


Weevils belong to a very successful family of beetles (Curculionidae) with more than 50,000 species worldwide. They vary in size from small seed weevils, less than 2 mm long, to the large pine weevils, 20-25 mm long. Adult weevils are fairly easy to recognise since nearly all have a characteristic rostrum or snout projecting forward from the head, with mandibles or jaws at the tip. Some species have a very long rostrum, which may exceed the length of the rest of the body, but generally the rostrum is much shorter. In addition, most species have distinctly elbowed antennae. The larval stages are relatively featureless white or yellowish grubs, usually legless, but with a well-developed head and jaws. Adults and larvae of all species feed either on living or on dead plant tissues. The larvae of many species feed enclosed inside the roots, stems or seeds of plants, and some of these types can become serious pests of agricultural crops, garden plants and stored food products.

About Pegagan
wild plant widely distributed around tropical Asia in 0-2500 meters abovel mean sea level. It grow well in wet or moisture soils in the bank of river, ponds, swamp or paddy field with kidney shape leaves with about 10-80 cm of stem from each single leave. This species is of highly medical values, some people believe the leave could use to cure measel, fever, sore
throat, bronkhitis and hepatitis.

Thanks for looking at my lizard and leaving your kind critique. I appreciate it.
I have had a look at your profile first and am impressed with your candid acceptance of the fact that your work as an oil engineer is not exactly a "greenies" affair. Well put in juxtaposition with your love for nature at the same time.
This is a very sharp and crisp image of a Weevil placed intentionally on the green leaves of a lush loking plant from Brunei.
I too have done the same thing a few times while shooting an insect :-).
The details on the subject are crisp and sharp.
