[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As far as I know, there are three species of butterflies which have red eyes: the Common Redeye, the Giant Redeye and the Palm Redeye. This species is name "Erionota thrax", commonly known as the Palm Redeye or the Banana Skipper, belonging to the family Hesperiidae. It is found in India, south-eastern Asia, Papua New Guinea, and southern China.
The Palm Redeye is a brown Hesperiid with large yellow spots on the forewings above and crimson red eyes.
Adult Palm Redeyes are less often seen because the butterfly is only active during the early morning hours and just before dusk. So this species is looked on as a rarity. I saw it only once at the back garden of our campus. As it was towards dusk and there was not enough light, I used high ISO to increase speed, as a result, the shot was a bit noised and of unsatisfatory quality.
Sorry for that, and thanks for viewing

Phylum: Arthropoda

Erionota thrax
(Linnaeus, 1767)
