[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Walking along the Lover's Stream running throughout our Campus, I saw a butterfly perching on the top of a branch which was quite high over my head. As the butterfly had its wings wide open, I could only see its underside wings. I shot butterflies from quite a number of angles or points of view, but it was the first time for me to look directly upward at a butterfly with wings fully open with almost nothing blocking my view.
A brief introduction to this species (though I remember I posted one shot before, but in different pose).
This butterfly has got a couple of names in English: the Great Eggfly, the Blue Moon or the Common Eggfly, and its scientific name is Hypolimnas bolina. Males are generally velvety black with purple-lined white patches in the middle of each wing. The larger females are black-brown with a complex pattern of white patches, with red orange patches on the forewing (lacking in some individuals). The forewings and hindwings of both sexes are outlined in wavy black and white fringe. The undersides of both sexes are generally brown with bands of white spots and branches.
I think this shot quality is unsatisfactory due to high ISO, and thanks for viewing ...
