[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This butterfly called "the Banded Tree Brown" was captured by the edge of the bamboo clumps on the Baiyun Hill, Guangzhou. He (probably male) liked to perch on the blade of a bamboo leave on guard. Whenever some other butterflies flew near him, he would take off and drove them away in order to protect his territory, it seemed to me.
The Banded Treebrown, Lethe confusa, is a species of butterfly belonging to the satyr family that is found mainly in South China, South East Asia and in parts of South Asia.

The Banded Tree Brown is a common butterfly usually found in the woodland fringe or the bamboo clumps. The brown wing color offers good camouflage for this woodland species. As suggested by its common name, this species has a broad white band in the fore wing and a series of submarginal eye-spots on the underside of the fore wing and hind wing.

the colours and composition are beautiful
thanks greeting lou

John, you obtained superb DOF with those camera settings.
The butterfly on the leaf is exceptionally sharp and the diagonal placement of the blade across the frame makes it a lovely composition.
The markings on the brown butterfly are very ornate and attractive.

Hello John,
A very striking species with this big eye on the underwings. The Banded Brown has very artistic patterns and colors. You have chosen an ideal composition using the leaf as "almost" diagonal. Lovely fine background too, perfectly matching to the color of the butterfly.
